A global medical device company with industry-leading innovative products is searching for Senior Database Administrator.
This position is responsible for the engineering and administration of databases. This position will collaborate with a global IT team to develop and follow standards and best practices for implementing and managing database systems. This individual will all be responsible for PostgreSQL. This individual will be the primary person responsible for the production database infrastructure environment.
Responsibilities:
- Implement, upgrade and enhance cost-effective fault-tolerant database infrastructure.
- Analyze system performance. Establish and uphold performance metrics for the system as whole and key business applications in particular.
- Fine-tune the databases to match application requirements.
- Provide database support and maintenance. Support user’s requests in relation to system problems and requests for enhancements.
- Ensure systems uptime.
- When users complain about the performance of a particular query, help developers improve the performance of that query by tweaking it or modifying indexes.
- Recommends solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, data back-up and recovery specification, communicating regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
- Support software projects involving the database infrastructure, which this person supports.
Needed qualifications:
- Proven experience as a DBA in a fast paced, high growth, technology and intensive environment.
- Solid background in PostgreSQL (Disaster recovery, Replication, Backups, Query tuning, Table partitioning).
Nice to have:
- Background in Microsoft SQL Database Administration.
- High Availability and Disaster Recovery.
- Experience with T-SQL.
- Query tuning and support of application design and development.
Requirements:
- BA degree in a design-related field.
- 4-5 years’ experience as a DBA.
- PostgreSQL 2+ years.
- MS SQL 1+ years.
- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems (1-2 years’ experience).
- English (Intermediate+).
